What is it?
A range of sailing trips in and around Guanabara Bay on the beautiful 42.7ft yacht, Maria Luna (recently refitted). The boat (technically it’s called a ‘yawl’) is owned by the super-friendly Stefano and skippered by Rui (a licensed RYA Yachtmaster Offshore). They offer sailing trips of varying durations, from a few hours out in the bay to bespoke overnight charters which could take you as far as Ilha Grande, Parati or Buzios.
What is it like?
All trips can be done privately or as part of a larger group. You’ll meet Stefano or Rui in Urca and will have the chance to pick up drinks and food for the trip (some icy cold beers and/or wine go down very well when you’re lounging on the boat!). Once aboard, you’ll head out into Guanabara Bay to enjoy breath-taking views of Rio’s amazing skyline.
Depending on the weather and how much time you have, you may head across the bay towards Niterói and around the bay towards Copacabana and the Cagarras Islands. No sailing experience is necessary, so you can relax and enjoy the experience. Hop overboard for a swim or just soak up the sun and natural beauty of Rio.
The romantic sunset trip, complete with a bottle of bubbly, would a great way to impress a loved one and could be the perfect opportunity to pop the question!
