When I first arrived in Brazil I knew next to nothing about Brazilian cuisine. In the years that followed I have been constantly surprised and delighted by delicious dishes, exotic fruits and other interesting ingredients (not to mention a few potent drinks along the way!). I’ve always enjoyed cooking, so every time I encountered a new ingredient, my first questions would be “What is this and what do you do with it?”. With new dishes: “What is this called? Where does it come from? Do you have a recipe?”.
It’s been a lot of fun attempting to recreate classic Brazilian dishes, or prepare some weird vegetable I’d never heard of before. I didn’t always keep great notes, but more recently I’ve been putting together somewhat standardised recipes so that I can make them just right every time and share the results with others.
