Views To Get Out Of Bed For

Some problems are good to have aren’t they? Like when the view outside your window at 5.30am is so amazing that you simply have to get out of bed and take a few photos. Then you can’t get back to sleep and you find yourself tired for the rest of the day. I’m not going to get much sympathy here am I?

Well if I’m going to suffer (yes, suffer) then it seems only right that something good comes out of it. Like today’s post! So here are some of the more memorable views from my window that have sent me scampering for my camera:

This was yesterday morning. We have a saying in England: “Red sky in the morning, shepherd’s warning”. This is the old way of saying that it’s going to rain (everyone knows shepherds can’t stand the rain right?). Well, judging by yesterday’s weather, that saying doesn’t work here.

Another early start, another sleepy day! On this particular morning there was a weird misty thing going one which made the Sugarloaf look great. Beautiful Ugly Rio eh?

This time it was thunder, rather than the sun, that woke me up. Actually I quite like thunderstorms and was quite pleased to catch a bit of lightning in the clouds at the back.

Hmmm, maybe I should watch the film before I say this, but that Auggie dude seemed kind of deep and interesting – I'll take it(as a compliment)! You're just lucky I exercised some editorial control and left out the other 300 I have…

Hey Alex, thanks man – it's nice to have a little something to show for all those hours of lost sleep!

It was meant as a compliment. BTW did you also take the pic you use as a header? The one which ,I am guessing here, includes Sugarloaf Mountain (yes, I am topographically challenged when it come to Rio, I admit it). Anyway that one is really nice as well.
You should consider watching that movie, I think it is a classic.

On a different note I see Alex has a new profile pic…

Ah cheers – yup it is the Sugarloaf (taken from the Corcovado). My good lady's comment when she first saw that header image was "Hmmm, I like it. I mean, it's not very original, but it's nice…" – some compliment! ;) She's right of course, but that shouldn't surprise me – as she informed me soon after we met, she is 'A dona da verdade'.

The saying that I have always heard is “Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning. Red sky at night, sailor delight”. Ever hear that version of it?

    Cheers.
