What’s that on the floor?

As a kid I spent quite a lot of time staring out of the window when I should have been concentrating. My teachers used to say I was “staring into space” which always confused me as I thought they meant outer space! I hadn’t seen a single planet, comet or asteroid. I was just looking at the clouds…

Remember this from Amelie?

Well, it seems like Amelie and I are not the only ones. If you happened to check the Eat Rio Facebook page this morning you would have seen following mystery image.

OK, maybe describing this image as mysterious is pushing things a bit. But why would I be posting this?

Thanks to Gary, Will and Sandro who made me laugh with their guesses:

Gary: You had a dodgy kebab Tom?

Will: Was an android murdered? [nice Alien reference there Will!]

Sandro: Pacman got lazy and bought a rifle.

OK, here’s a clue: If you use your best ‘gazing-out-of-the-window’ skills, does that white patch look a bit like a fish’s head?

I had to use some (primitive) Photoshop trickery to create the image above which simulates what the pavement (sorry, sidewalk) used to look like. And here’s what it looks like today (put your mouse over the image to see the before and after versions): [himage]

Well, it’s been a while since I posted about Rio street art and it doesn’t get much more street than this does it? Bravo to whoever had the vision to create this – it always makes me smile when I walk past.

It looks like a scene from “Game of Thrones,” where the dragons are grabbing a quick bite to eat from the sea. Cool!

Mrs Eat Rio is the GOT addict in our house Phil so I’ll have to ask her ;) But are you seeing dragon claws grabbing fish heads? I saw it as a bunch of fish all swimming in the same direction, so those are tails in front (to the right). Anyway, however you interpret it, it makes a nice addition right?

Well, I’m glad this wasn’t a Rorschach test. Yes, I saw scaly dragon legs with claws extended, ready to snatch up the fish, but with your kind explanation, I can also see them as fish tails. I’m really not a violent person by nature……at least I never thought I was. ;-)
