Happy Birthday to…
Today I would mostly like to say a big Happy Birthday to my Mum! It’s at times like this that I feel the downside of living in Brazil. The sun and adventure is all very well, but it’s tough to be away from so many loved ones for such long periods. I have also just recently missed my niece’s birthday and (unfortunately for her) I am one of those people who is useless at planning ahead, buying presents or using the postal system (AKA a man).
There is also another birthday today – Eat Rio’s! One year ago today I started off by telling you a little about myself and decided I would share a few discoveries from my new life in Rio. Since that time I’ve given you some recipes, some hand gesture quizzes and some ridiculous efforts at stop motion animation. I’ve tried to write about some current affairs, some of the silly things that make me chuckle and of course, who could forget those fascinating posts about my herb garden?
At times I wonder whether I should just pick one subject area and stick to it, but covering a variety of subjects makes it more interesting for me and hopefully for you guys too.
I’d like to write more, but unfortunately it’s actually very difficult to find the time nowadays. But I love writing and it’s very flattering that there are a few of you who keep coming back to listen to my ramblings (you must be so bored…). It’s also really nice to hear what you guys are thinking, so do feel free to make a comment if you ever feel the urge.

Happy Burfday Ms. LeMesurier and EatRio!
Of course were bored Tom, why would we be here? Just kidding ;). These blogs are the best thing ever, so much information is shared, it’s also important to get ideas out…I think blogging can help us keep our sanity!
So keep writing! I’m here to listen!
It’s weird, I’ve almost been blogging for a year now too! Weird!
Thanks Alex! :) I hope you’ll be making a suitably big hoo-haa about your 1 year anniversary! I’m looking forward to the day you will be able to change your tag-line from “My future lies in Brazil” to “I’m living in Brazil!” (you might want to think up something more catchy than that, but you get my idea…)
Is your mom looking at a herb garden and indoctrinating you? :-)
Happy birthday.
Gritty, as this picture was taken I had just told my mum that I wanted to plant oregano right next to wall over there. My Mum looked over, laughed kindly and said “Tom, you have a lot to learn… There’s nowhere near enough light for oregano in that spot. You want to be planting thyme next to the wall…”
Happy birthday to Eat Rio! I sure love checking in to your blog for new content :) Always a good read!
Thanks Brae, it’s great to have you on board :)
