Brazil grows more coffee than any other nation on earth, and yet coffee lovers are often disappointed with the lack of a ‘scene’ here in Rio. Although there are a few places making excellent coffee, the general standard is pretty basic. Luckily, you now have the option of this Brazilian Coffee Experience!

Over the course of 3 hours, your guide will take you on a tour of the downtown area of Rio, telling you about the history of coffee in Brazil, how it shaped the country economically, how the business was affected by slavery and workers’ rights. This coffee experience will also teach you about the technical aspects of coffee – how and where it is grown today, how beans are selected and processed and roasted, all the way through to the work of the barista in the final preparation.

During the tour, you’ll meet locals and coffee experts, visit a family-owned coffee shop where they roast the 17 different varieties of coffee from the family farm in Minas Gerais. And of course you’ll taste specialty Brazilian coffees (and there’ll be pastries too!).
